Te Wera Camp

I spent 2 days at Te Wera with Room 10.  We did some very challenging activities and I had the pleasure of watching  children develop self confidence with determination to try new things out.  The kayaks challenge was to connect all our kayaks in one line by holding onto each others kayaks.  Then children had to walk across the front of the kayak.  We did some seal entries too.  We had a great ratio of parents 1:3 and they had fun too.  It was good to be out of the office.  Mrs Cribb and our teachers put a lot of hard work and effort into the camp.  We went eeling as well under a lovely star lit sky.  We fed them chicken bones and used left over drumstick meat for bait.  The eels loved it and after all the excitement had died down and seeing eels coming out to fed Mr Habib caught a big eel.  We took this back to camp to prepare it to cook.  Great experience.

Canterbury Earthquake

Yesterday children from Frankley School participated in various fundraising activities.  Children dressed in red and black and gave a donation.  We also sold juices and pizzas at lunchtime.  Senior children also ran a pre-loved book sale.  Lastly we currently have children doing "Go without power 24 hr" challenge.  We have raised $1,059.80 so far and expect to raise more than $1,100.  A great effort that shows leadership skills by our senior children, and the giving and caring spirit of the Frankley community.

Farewell Frankley Year 6 students

Today we said farewell to our year 6 students.  One of them was my son.  This was a very moving assembly and saying farewell as a Principal was very emotional but as a parent too was heart jerking.  I did show some emotional and found it very hard to say farewell.  I think that is very important for the community to see you in the role as a parent of the school.  I wish all our Year 6 students all the best for the future.  I thank the staff for their hard work throughout 2010.  Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Frankley School Carnval 2010

Frankley Carnival 2010 - My Principal challenge for the carnival was sahving my head.  Mr Single and Mr Fleming joined the race but I was the lucky winner.  Here is a photo of the final product.  All funds wen to a great cause.
